Several ‘Big Names’ Are Part of the Postgraduate Students’ Population at the School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance at MMUST!!
A battery of ‘Big names’ are part of the Post Graduate Students population at the School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance(SDMHA) and they paid a courtesy call to the Office of the Vice Chancellor on 9th August 2023. The team was coordinated by the Registrar academic affairs, Prof. Thomas Sakwa.
Thanking them for choosing MMUST, the Vice Chancellor encouraged them to continue being MMUST’s ambassadors, saying that MMUST will provide quality education that meets their expectations and those of the education sector in the country. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo stated that he looks forward to formalizing MMUST’s relationship with the National Defence University through an MoU.
Previously, the students had met with Dean SDMHA on 8th August 2023, where they were received by Dr. Ferdinand Nabiswa together with the Chairperson of the Department (CoD) of Peace and Conflict Studies, Dr. Ruth Simiyu. The visit was made after completion of their postgraduate examinations for the current trimester, which are currently underway.
The students included Sergeant Guyo Waqo who is a Military Officer with the Kenya Army, currently pursuing Master of Science in Conflict Resolution and Management; Secretary General United Democratic Alliance, Hon. Cleophas Malala, pursuing Master of Diplomacy and International Relations; the Deputy Vice Chancellor in-charge of Applied Research and Security Studies at the National Defence University-Kenya, Maj Gen William Shume, pursuing Master of Diplomacy and International Relations; the Legal Head at the Directorate of Migration Services, Mr. Jimmy Nyikuli; and the Foreign Relations Officer at the Kenyan embassy in Juba, Mr. Johnstone Loyatum, currently pursuing a PhD in Peace and Security Studies.
In attendance was Rev. Sgt. Rtd. Dr. Elijah Onyango Standslause Odhiambo who is a lecturer in the School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance.
